A useful fit for

A document-supported current-reference choice for someone who specifically wants the Px8 S2's over-ear ANC, Bluetooth 5.3/aptX Lossless, two-device switching and separate USB-C and powered analog routes in the Anthracite Grey/Papaya McLaren collaboration finish.

The main tradeoff

The manufacturer documents the same core operating features as standard Px8 S2, not a McLaren-specific ANC, sound or runtime upgrade. Its 30-hour rating applies to the shared wireless ANC-on mode; the wired routes have no separate ANC rating, and analog playback needs power. No hands-on fit, sound or cancellation test is claimed.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Is the Px8 S2 McLaren Edition a performance upgrade over standard Px8 S2?

The separate U.S. SKU has an Anthracite Grey/Papaya finish, McLaren branding and its own product page, but its information sheet lists the same 40 mm carbon drivers, Bluetooth 5.3/aptX Lossless, multipoint, ANC, USB-C audio, 30-hour rating, cables and case as the Px8 S2 platform. The sources do not establish a performance upgrade.

Can the McLaren Edition keep a phone and computer connected at once?

The Px8 S2 manual documents two simultaneous Bluetooth device connections, with one playback or call source active at a time. This supports switching between a phone and computer, not mixing two audio streams. The edition sheet lists the same multipoint feature.

Does its 30-hour rating apply to battery-free analog cable playback?

No. The 30-hour figure is the Px8 S2 wireless ANC-on rating in its manual. For the included analog cable, the manual requires sufficient charge and the headset switched on; it gives no separate wired ANC runtime and does not document passive power-off audio.

The Px8 S2 McLaren Edition is a separately named U.S. over-ear noise-cancelling headphone, not simply an image or seller bundle of the standard Onyx Black Px8 S2. Its exact product page identifies SKU 301165-06-00-308 and a distinct Anthracite Grey/Papaya finish with McLaren branding. The feature sheet describes a Px8 S2 platform. This is a document-based assessment of those manufacturer sources and the Px8 S2 manual, not a personal listening, fit or noise-reduction test. No unit was worn, measured or tested.

A distinct purchase identity, a familiar Px8 S2 platform

The most important distinction from standard Px8 S2 is exact identity: a unique product page and SKU, the Anthracite Grey/Papaya color treatment, Nappa leather details and an embossed McLaren logo. That can matter to a buyer choosing a collaboration design, but the product page and information sheet do not describe a new ANC mode or a separate acoustic tuning claim for this edition.

Its listed 40 mm full-range carbon drivers, Bluetooth 5.3, aptX Lossless and Adaptive support, eight microphones, ANC, multipoint, USB-C audio and 30-hour playback figure match the standard Px8 S2 documentation. The matching 310 g specification and listed cable/case package also point to the same underlying operating platform. These published similarities support comparing the two as variants in function; they do not prove equal sound to a listener or better performance because of a racing partnership.

Bluetooth ANC and a 30-hour manufacturer ceiling

The edition's product page lists ANC and up to 30 hours of playback. The Px8 S2 manual gives the condition that makes the number useful: up to 30 hours of continuous wireless media streaming with noise cancellation enabled at average playback volume. It also says Bluetooth, ANC and Ambient Pass-Through use affect duration. The manual is for the Px8 S2 platform; the McLaren edition has its own information sheet but no separate operating manual was located. Because the edition page and sheet identify it as a Px8 S2 version and list the same battery and ANC features, the S2 manual is used for operation, not as a claim of a separate edition test.

That maximum is a comparison point, not a promise for every volume, call pattern, battery age, or trip. ANC hardware being present does not establish how much of a particular engine, voice or office noise a wearer will hear. The manufacturer specification alone cannot settle fit, seal, comfort or subjective cancellation; use an appropriate return policy if those personal factors will determine the purchase.

Two connected devices, one active source

The Px8 S2 manual documents two simultaneous Bluetooth connections. A phone and laptop can remain connected so the listener can switch between them, but only one source plays or carries a call at a time. Multipoint is not audio mixing. Codec names are also conditional: a transmitting device must support the codec and the connection has to negotiate it. aptX Lossless on the product sheet does not make a computer or phone compatible by itself, and an unsupported codec may fall back to another listed option.

The Bowers & Wilkins Music app is part of the manufacturer's setup and control path for ANC and audio settings. Check the app's compatibility with your devices and region before relying on its features. A Bluetooth spec does not establish call intelligibility in a noisy place, and the microphone count is not an independent call test.

Analog cable and USB-C are separate plans

The information sheet lists both a USB-C-to-3.5 mm stereo lead and a USB-C-to-USB-C cable, plus a carry case. Analog input uses the supplied USB-C-to-3.5 mm cable with a compatible 3.5 mm source. The Px8 S2 manual says the headphones need sufficient charge and must be switched on for analog audio. Do not treat this as passive listening when the battery is empty. The consulted manual does not clearly confirm ANC during analog playback or give a cable-mode ANC runtime, so the 30-hour wireless rating must not be carried over to the wire.

USB-C computer audio is a digital route, distinct from the analog lead. The product page calls out a true 24-bit audio connection; the manual describes using USB audio with a computer and notes that it disconnects Bluetooth. Confirm that the host can provide the supported audio mode and that the cable and ports fit your setup. Neither the feature sheet nor the manual provides a separate ANC-on runtime for USB audio.

Check the edition and package before ordering

Confirm the listing says Px8 S2 McLaren Edition and matches SKU 301165-06-00-308 if the Papaya-accented collaboration version is what you want. It is not the standard Px8 S2 Onyx Black, and it is not the older original Px8 McLaren Edition. The manufacturer lists the same two cables and case for this edition, but retail listings can mix finishes, generations, new and recertified condition, or incomplete packages.

If the only reason to choose this edition is an expected ANC or sound improvement over standard Px8 S2, the consulted documentation does not support that distinction. Choose it for the documented edition and finish rather than inferred performance; compare exact seller condition, included cables, return terms and battery coverage. See the U.S. Px8 S2 McLaren Edition page, its official information sheet and the Px8 S2 operating manual for exact model and mode details.
