Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the CLUB 950NC use ANC while listening over its included cable?
JBL's QSG separately rates AUX-in music with ANC on at up to 30 hours, and the U.S. refurbished page lists an Aux-in cable in the box. That is powered wired listening; it does not establish passive playback after battery depletion.
Explore this need in the finder →Does CLUB 950NC document keeping two Bluetooth devices connected?
The JBL QSG illustrates a multi-point connection for a maximum of two devices. This supports a two-device switching setup, not simultaneous mixed audio, and JBL does not assign an ANC runtime to both links being active.
Explore this need in the finder →Is Bluetooth ANC playback reliably rated to 25 hours on the Black-Z offer?
Not consistently in the reviewed JBL material: the exact U.S. page's feature text says 22 hours with ANC on, the QSG says 25 hours for Bluetooth plus ANC, and the same page's 30-hour ANC field is not tied to a connection. The finder therefore does not use a Bluetooth ANC number for a hard minimum.
Explore this need in the finder →JBL’s CLUB 950NC is an earlier over-ear ANC design, and the exact U.S. page now identifies the Black-Z item as a refurbished listing, CLUB950NCBLKAM-Z. Its strongest documented differentiators are a supplied AUX lead, ANC in both Bluetooth and AUX operation, and a two-device Bluetooth multipoint mode. The important catch is runtime: the current U.S. product copy and its technical table do not agree with each other or with the model guide about Bluetooth ANC playback time. The safer assessment is to leave that Bluetooth number unresolved; the separate AUX-plus-ANC rating is documented at up to 30 hours. This is a source-based review, not a hands-on test or an endorsement of any current seller offer.
Exact item and the limits of a refurbished listing
The U.S. JBL page labels this configuration “JBL Club 950NC Refurbished,” gives the selected color as Black-Z and prints item number CLUB950NCBLKAM-Z. It identifies the model as wireless and over-ear, marks Noise Cancelling “Yes,” and lists Adaptive Noise Cancelling. The product is not the separate JBL CLUB ONE. A manufacturer page for a refurbished item does not establish the condition, battery health, warranty, accessories or availability of an individual retailer listing. If comparing an offer, match the exact model and refurbished condition rather than accepting a CLUB ONE, CLUB 700BT or a generic “JBL noise cancelling” result as equivalent.
JBL lists 40 mm dynamic drivers, Bluetooth 5.0 and a mass of 372 g (13.12 oz). The written Japanese owner’s manual for the same CLUB 950NC model shows a 3.5 mm source plug and a 2.5 mm connector at the headphone. JBL’s exact U.S. page calls its supplied lead an “Aux-in cable with remote & mic” but does not print the plug dimensions there; the Japanese manual is used for the model’s connector arrangement, not to transfer that market’s package contents. Weight and cup shape are manufacturer specifications, not a prediction of comfort for a particular head or glasses frame.
The selected U.S. page’s box list includes the headphone, USB Type-C charging cable, Aux-in cable with remote and microphone, hard case, and printed/support material. The main image shows one black headphone, not the case or a refurbished package. Confirm which accessories and refurbishment terms are attached to the actual seller’s offer, especially before assuming the original AUX lead or case remains in the box.
ANC runtime: keep the connection paths separate
The JBL quick-start guide separates three maximums: 55 hours with Bluetooth on, up to 25 hours with Bluetooth and ANC on, and up to 30 hours with AUX-in and ANC on. The English specification sheet makes the same 25-hour Bluetooth-plus-ANC and 30-hour AUX-plus-ANC distinction. Those are manufacturer maxima, not measured results for this review or forecasts for a used battery.
The exact U.S. refurbished page complicates the Bluetooth figure. Its feature text says up to 55 hours of wireless connectivity and up to 22 hours with ANC on, while a technical field on the same page says “Maximum music play time with ANC on” is 30 hours without identifying the connection. JBL’s quick-start guide and English sheet instead give 25 hours for Bluetooth plus ANC. Those sources cannot be reconciled into one dependable Bluetooth ANC value for this selected item, so this assessment does not use 22, 25 or the unqualified 30-hour field as a Bluetooth promise. A hard Bluetooth ANC-runtime threshold should not be treated as satisfied on this evidence.
The AUX case is clearer: JBL’s model guide explicitly assigns up to 30 hours to music with AUX-in and ANC on, and the selected U.S. page includes an AUX lead. That is powered wired listening, not a battery-free fallback. A request for ANC while connected by cable can therefore be answered separately from a request for a certain Bluetooth runtime.
Two connected devices, not two simultaneous streams
The QSG illustrates a multi-point connection and gives a maximum of two devices. This supports a phone-and-computer switching use case; it does not mean the headphones mix two music streams. The manual presents the ANC control and multipoint pairing workflow separately, and none of the documents assigns a Bluetooth ANC runtime to the two-link arrangement. Treat multipoint as a documented connection feature, not as evidence that a particular call handoff or combined battery figure has been tested.
What the paperwork does not establish
JBL documents active ANC, Ambient Aware, TalkThru, a built-in microphone and an app. Those names explain available modes; they do not quantify noise reduction, call quality, sound character or how well the earcups seal on a given wearer. JBL also publishes passive frequency-response and maximum-input-power fields. Neither is proof that audio continues when the battery is empty or the headphone is switched off. The documents reviewed do not confirm power-off passive playback, so the CLUB 950NC should not be selected for a battery-free cable requirement.
USB Type-C is listed as the charging connection and a charging cable is in the U.S. box list. I found no model-specific evidence that USB-C carries digital audio. Do not treat charging-port shape as proof of a USB audio mode. For a wired source, check the actual device’s output and the lead/adapter supplied with the specific refurbished offer.
Who should keep it on the comparison list?
For someone deliberately comparing an earlier refurbished model, the CLUB 950NC has a credible documented combination of over-ear ANC, AUX-plus-ANC, a two-device Bluetooth link and a hard case. The paper weight is substantial enough to check against personal preferences, but it cannot settle fit. Its 55-hour Bluetooth figure belongs to ANC-off listening; the ANC-on figures must not be merged across modes. This is less straightforward than a current-reference alternative whose Bluetooth ANC rating is internally consistent, and older or refurbished battery condition adds another uncertainty.
The prudent next step is to verify the exact Black-Z refurbished item, the seller’s stated condition and return process, battery and warranty terms, and the actual cable/case contents. If the choice hinges on long Bluetooth ANC playback, ask for a direct answer about the exact offer; the available JBL documents do not provide one consistent value. If the requirement is wired ANC, distinguish the powered AUX arrangement from passive listening after power loss.
Primary evidence: JBL’s U.S. Black-Z refurbished product page, English specification sheet, multilingual quick-start guide and Japanese owner’s manual for CLUB ONE / CLUB 950NC. The Japanese manual supports the model’s connector layout; it is not used to claim the U.S. package contains the same accessories. No listening, comfort, microphone, ANC or battery test was performed.
