JBL Tune 760NC Wireless Over-Ear Noise-Cancelling Headphones (Black) review

Earlier U.S. Black over-ear Bluetooth ANC headphones with a maker-rated 35-hour Bluetooth ANC-on maximum, two-device multipoint and a detachable audio cable. JBL does not state that ANC or playback continues with the cable after power-off.

A useful fit for

A research-based earlier-model reference for a shopper checking an exact Black JBLT760NCBLKAM offer who values over-ear ANC, documented two-device switching or a modest 220 g listed weight. The Bluetooth ANC rating is explicit; its detachable cable should not be treated as a confirmed battery-free fallback.

The main tradeoff

The up-to-35-hour figure is a Bluetooth-plus-ANC maximum, not the separate 50-hour ANC-off number, an analog rating or a promise for an aged battery. JBL documents a two-device connection limit but not a dual-link ANC runtime. Check used/old-stock battery, exact suffix, cable and return terms.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Which ANC-on runtime is documented?

JBL rates the Tune 760NC for up to 35 hours of Bluetooth music with ANC on and separately up to 50 hours with ANC off. Its documents do not assign the 35-hour figure to wired use or to a two-link multipoint session.

Can it keep a phone and computer connected?

JBL's quick-start guide labels multipoint for a maximum of two devices. That establishes simultaneous connections and source switching, not mixed playback or a dual-link battery rating.

Does its included cable work after the battery is empty?

The U.S. page lists a detachable cable, but the inspected sources do not clearly confirm ANC or passive playback with power off. Do not count this model as a proven battery-free analog option.

The JBL Tune 760NC is an earlier U.S. over-ear ANC model whose cleanest runtime claim is up to 35 hours of Bluetooth music with ANC on. JBL lists up to 50 hours with ANC off, and those are different listening conditions. The exact U.S. Black item reviewed here is JBLT760NCBLKAM. It also supports two-device Bluetooth multipoint and includes a detachable audio lead, but JBL's inspected documentation does not establish ANC over that lead or playback with the battery exhausted.

Which Tune 760NC this assessment covers

JBL identifies the selected Black U.S. version as a wireless over-ear noise-cancelling headphone. The page lists 220 g, 40 mm drivers and Bluetooth 5.0. It was marked sold out on JBL's U.S. product page when checked, and the newer Tune 770NC is a separate later model. This makes the 760NC useful as a specific older-offer comparison, not a promise that it can be bought new now or that its battery has retained its original capacity.

The over-ear format encloses the ear rather than resting directly on it, but cup shape and headband pressure are personal. A listed 220 g mass is a useful comparison point, not a comfort result. No listening, long-wear, microphone, durability or noise-reduction measurements were performed for this review. JBL's adaptive-noise-control wording describes the feature, not a measured comparison with another headset.

Keep ANC-on and ANC-off battery figures separate

JBL specifies a maximum of 35 hours for Bluetooth music with active noise cancellation enabled, and a separate 50-hour maximum with ANC off. The longer number is not the time to expect while using cancellation. The product page also describes a quick-charge benefit, but that does not remove ordinary variability from volume, call use, temperature, settings or the condition of an older lithium-ion battery.

For a long flight or workday, treat 35 hours as a manufacturer ceiling for the named mode, not a guarantee that an individual used unit will last that long. The product page's charge specification says two hours from empty. Before buying old stock or a secondhand pair, ask whether it charges and holds charge, and whether the seller's return policy lets you verify the battery promptly. An attractive runtime figure cannot answer those offer-specific questions.

Multipoint is switching, not a combined stream

The quick-start guide labels a multipoint connection for a maximum of two Bluetooth devices. That can suit a routine where a laptop or tablet and a phone stay paired, with attention shifting from one to the other. It is not evidence that audio from both devices plays at once. A call may take focus from media, and the exact behavior can depend on the phone and computer as well as the headphone.

JBL does not say that its 35-hour test held both Bluetooth connections at once. The documented two-link capability and the published ANC runtime are therefore kept as separate arrangements in this assessment. If dual connections are essential, look for the multipoint support itself; do not assume the battery ceiling remains exactly 35 hours under calls, two links and your particular settings.

A detachable cable is not automatically a dead-battery backup

The U.S. page lists an included detachable audio cable, and the guide shows wired listening. Those facts establish an analog input, but not every possible cable mode. The material reviewed here does not clearly say that ANC continues while wired, that the headset must be powered for ordinary cable audio, or that it will play when the battery is empty. A passive frequency-response field, where present, would not by itself prove battery-free playback.

That distinction matters if wired operation is the fallback you actually need. A cable may solve a source-connection problem while still leaving you dependent on a charged headset for ANC or even for audio. Check the seller's exact item and confirm operation with the cable before relying on it for a trip; the finder does not count this model as a proven battery-free analog option.

Who should compare it, and what to verify

The Tune 760NC is a reasonable research reference for someone who has already found a Black JBLT760NCBLKAM offer and wants a straightforward over-ear ANC layout, a relatively modest listed weight, and two-device switching. It is less persuasive if you need a documented passive fallback, a cable-specific ANC runtime or current JBL-store availability. Its successor Tune 770NC is not a color or SKU variant of the reviewed item, so compare the exact model rather than relying on a family name in a marketplace title.

Before committing to an earlier unit, confirm the Black U.S. item number, battery behavior, ear pads, hinge and cable condition, included USB-C charging lead, return window and seller warranty. There is no present price, stock assertion or retailer-quality claim here. The source documents support the specifications and connection distinctions above; they do not establish an individual seller's package or the condition of the particular pair.
