Your needs, this model

Can the EAH-A800 keep a phone and laptop connected while ANC is on?
Panasonic's manual documents up to two simultaneous Bluetooth connections after multipoint is enabled in the Technics Audio Connect app; the default is off, and the two sources are switched rather than mixed. The 50-hour ANC-on figure is for AAC/SBC. Because the manual says LDAC cannot play with multipoint on but Panasonic's later firmware history says LDAC plus multipoint is enabled by an update, this review does not rely on LDAC for a two-device match.
Explore this need in the finder →Will the supplied audio cord play if the battery is empty?
Yes. The EAH-A800 operating instructions say it can be used as normal headphones with the supplied detachable cord when powered off or with no remaining battery charge. This is passive analog playback; ANC and powered controls are not documented in that state. Check that the source has a 3.5 mm analog output or a suitable adapter.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the EAH-A800 provide ANC through its 3.5 mm cable?
The consulted operating instructions document the cord for normal headphone use with power off or the battery empty, but do not establish a powered wired ANC arrangement. The ANC-on runtime ratings apply to Bluetooth audio. Do not transfer the 50-hour AAC/SBC or 40-hour LDAC maximum to cable use.
Explore this need in the finder →Assessment scope: This is a research-based review of the U.S. Black EAH-A800-K, not a report from hands-on use. Technics identifies its SKU; Panasonic's U.S. support guide lists the family in Black and Silver. The short Silver section below records its distinct EAH-A800-S identity and exact image, while the feature assessment stays with documented shared model capabilities. I compared the U.S. product page, manual, specifications, catalog and firmware notes—not a listening test.
Silver EAH-A800-S: same family, separately identified finish
The U.S. Technics page identifies Silver as SKU EAH-A800-S, separate from Black EAH-A800-K. Panasonic's U.S. support page and family manual publish no color-specific change to ANC, codec, Bluetooth, runtime or controls, so the existing capability assessment applies to documented shared features. That does not settle retailer box contents: check the EAH-A800-S listing if a case or airplane adaptor matters.

What the EAH-A800 is on paper
Technics describes an over-ear Bluetooth headphone with dual-hybrid feedforward and feedback noise cancellation, a 40 mm PEEK/polyurethane three-layer diaphragm, and Bluetooth 5.2. The U.S. specification lists SBC, AAC and LDAC codecs and a weight of about 298 g without the cord. Those are useful compatibility and packing facts, not a measured score for sound, isolation or comfort. A heavier or lighter number cannot predict how the pads will seal on one person's head, especially with glasses, hair, or a different ear shape.
The brand's materials describe noise-cancelling, ambient/transparent listening, and an attention mode intended to make nearby speech or announcements easier to hear. Those modes do not establish how much cabin, road or office sound a particular wearer will hear. This review has no independent attenuation measurement and does not rank the EAH-A800 above competitors. Consider its physical fit and actual ANC behavior through a returnable offer if those decide the purchase.
Runtime depends on the Bluetooth codec
Panasonic's U.S. specification gives separate approximate maximum playback figures with noise cancellation enabled: 50 hours on AAC, 50 hours on SBC, and 40 hours on LDAC. The 60-hour AAC/SBC and 50-hour LDAC values belong to ANC-off playback, so they are not interchangeable with an ANC-on requirement. Panasonic also lists 15 minutes of charging for up to 10 hours of AAC playback with NC on, and about three hours for a full charge under its stated power conditions. These are manufacturer's test-case ceilings, not an estimate of the present runtime of a used or aged battery; Panasonic says actual operating time can shorten with use conditions.
For the quiz's rated ANC-on threshold, the documented AAC/SBC arrangement can support a 50-hour answer; the separate LDAC arrangement tops out at 40 hours. That distinction matters if a phone or computer selects LDAC automatically. The matcher does not treat the ANC-off maximum as ANC-on time, and none of these ratings is evidence about playback through the analog cord.
Two connected devices need setup
The operating instructions say that multipoint can keep a maximum of two Bluetooth devices connected at once, but its default state is off and Panasonic directs the user to turn it on through the Technics Audio Connect app. This is a phone-and-computer handoff feature, not simultaneous mixing of two audio streams. The manual also says LDAC cannot play when multipoint is enabled. Panasonic's later firmware history says that, after firmware JND1ZD 1.050 and app version 2.4.0 or later, a person using LDAC can use multipoint. Because those official instructions conflict, this assessment does not promise that LDAC and two simultaneous connections coexist. The documented AAC/SBC multipoint plan is the safer match; verify current firmware and source behavior if the LDAC/two-device combination is essential.
The cable is a real fallback, but not a cable ANC claim
The U.S. page and manual both list a detachable audio cord. The manual explicitly says the headphones can be used as normal headphones through that cord while powered off or when the battery has no remaining charge. That establishes a practical passive 3.5 mm fallback for a source with a compatible analog output. It does not mean ANC continues with the power off. Nor do the documents we reviewed establish powered ANC through the cable, so the product's ANC-on Bluetooth runtime is not carried into an analog plan.
The package inventory needs one check. The U.S. operating manual's supplied-accessories list includes a carrying case and airplane adaptor in addition to the charging and detachable cords. The current U.S. product-page specification table lists only the two cords under supplied accessories. The common audio cord is well supported; the exact seller's box contents for the case and airplane adaptor are not settled by these sources. Verify the box for the exact Black SKU instead of assuming a generic EAH-A800 package.
Who should keep it on a shortlist
The most defensible case is a listener who values the documented mix of Bluetooth ANC, multipoint with AAC/SBC, and passive cable listening when power is unavailable. Its dual-hybrid ANC design and mode controls make it feature-rich, while the separate codec ratings give a more useful battery comparison than an unqualified long-runtime headline. A passenger can also check whether the airplane adaptor is actually included before relying on it for an in-flight wired source.
It is a weaker match for someone who needs verified powered ANC over a cable, requires ANC while the headset is off, or needs a guaranteed LDAC-plus-multipoint mode without checking the firmware conflict. The 298 g published weight, broad earpad description, and maker's sound language are not substitutes for a personal fit check. Before ordering, confirm the Black EAH-A800-K identity, the exact package, a suitable analog jack if using the cord, and the firmware/app state for multipoint. No price, current seller inventory, independent test result or personal battery-life claim is made here.
